Research Supports Monitoring Your Emotions to Make Better Food Choices

The April 2015 edition of Health magazine (www.Health.com) had a small article discussing a new study reported in the Journal of Marketing Research which found that people who were taught how to be mindful of their emotions made better food decisions than people who were not.

The lead author of the study (Dr. Blair Kidwell) remarked that people just don’t pay enough attention to “routine food choices.” Do you?

Being mindful of your emotions results in your being more mindful about your food which has the benefit of getting you to think before you eat! So, the next time you are about to eat something pause for a moment and become aware of your emotions and notice if that shift in your focus changes your food intake.

Until Next Time,

Dr. Sheila
