Researchers at Northwestern University did a study which
showed that dieters who had a logged onto weight loss websites regularly,
posted their weight and engaged with other members of their online community
lost more weight than dieters who did not. This study, discussed in the June
2015 edition of Health magazine (www.health.com)
supports the idea, which has long been known, that having social support can help
people change behavior. Now we know that this idea works with online friends as
well as offline ones.
